Anthropic insisted on contract safeguards prohibiting its models from being used for mass domestic surveillance or fully autonomous weapons. The Pentagon demanded unrestricted access for all lawful purposes, subsequently designating Anthropic a supply chain risk and leading Anthropic to file federal lawsuits to overturn the ban.
